The Standard Group, one of the leading media houses in Kenya, recently launched KTN News, a 24-Hour News Channel –which is a first of its kind in the country. KTN News is a sister channel to KTN and it will primarily focus on news, documentaries, information, live coverage, current affairs, talk shows, showbiz and human-interest stories.
KTN News covers matters affecting residents throughout the country including the heated political situations in the county governments. Documentaries that were previously aired on KTN, including Case Files, Jicho Pevu, The Perspective, Jaramandia la Uhalifu, The Inside Story and The Entrepreneur will now be aired on KTN News. Additionally, new documentaries and news features have been introduced and most news anchors assigned their own shows.
The move sees Standard Group solidify its status as a genuine pacesetter in an industry where many players have no time for originality. KTN News marks the beginning of an exciting journey where news will be available anytime, and not just as a 15-20 minute show that had become a norm in many media houses.
KTN News received a warm reception on social media, especially twitter, where its tagline, #GetTheWholeStory, has been a trending topic. The channel is available on GoTV on channel 94, ADN-KTN News, Zuku on channel 14 and DStv on channel 274. The channel will be aired in the rest of East and Southern Africa, pending partnerships with other TV Stations.
